What you see here is a collection of Daxiong's commissioned works from recent years.
Most of these pieces were hand-drawn at comic conventions around the world. With the rise of the AI era, every artist has felt the force of this new wave - especially those working digitally, where the line between what's real and what's artificial is becoming harder to see. That's why I chose to return to something honest and human - traditional hand-drawn watercolor.
It's a bit ironic that I now have to prove I'm human by filming my own painting process - something I never imagined would become part of being an artist.
This book has been translated into English, Japanese, and Chinese, because my friends and supporters are mainly from these three language regions. I had also hoped to include French and Korean, but due to space limits, I had to make a tough choice - something I truly regret.
The book is divided into four parts:
1: Personal works - a small section, since that's not the main focus of this collection.
2: Commissioned illustrations and covers - only part of them are included here, as some are bound by copyright restrictions.
3: Convention commissions - pieces created live for friends and collectors at comic events. Most of the characters come from American or Japanese comics and animation; all rights belong to their original creators. My role is simply to reinterpret and re-imagine them as an artist.
4: Ideas and reflections - small moments of inspiration I wanted to share with my friends.
So please, take your time with this book. Enjoy the art, feel the stories behind each piece, and in this fast-changing world, accept my heartfelt thanks for still believing in the human touch behind every brushstroke.
